Dolly Parton

No-No. Leave Dolly Alone.

Dollyparton6_sm_eCountry music star Dolly Parton has thrown a punch back against Howard Stern's satellite radio show, which last week manipulated recordings from one of her audio books into seemingly racist and sexually graphic sound bites. Now why on Earth would anyone want to mess with Dolly? She's one of the nicest celebrities in the business. I mean, I know Howard Stern makes stuff up for shock and a laugh...and it's all in good fun, but Dolly? Poor Dolly.

Dolly Parton released this statement:

"I have never been so shocked, hurt and humiliated in all my life,"

"I cannot believe what Howard Stern has done to me. In a blue million years, I would never have such vulgar things come out of my mouth. They have done editing or some sort of trickery to make this horrible, horrible thing. Please accept my apology for them and certainly know I had nothing to do with this."

"If there was ever going to be a lawsuit, it's going to be over this. Just wanted you to know that I am completely devastated by this."

If you want to know what the hub-bub is all about, I don't want to embed the clip here, however you can listen if you want here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grEx37St_XM

I say bury his ass in the court room Miss Dolly.

An Evening with Dolly Parton

100_0913I recently got the chance to go see the biggest country diva in the world - Dolly Parton when she stopped through Atlanta on her tour to help promote her new album Backwoods Barbie.  Her concert "An Evening with Dolly Parton" is worth every penny you will spend on the ticket.  She sang her biggest hits like "Here You Come Again", "9 to 5", "Jolene" "Coat of Many Colors" "Two Doors Down" and of course "I Will Always Love You" just to name a few, not to mention she let us have a great sampling from her new album Backwoods Barbie.  Not only did she sing she entertained, which can't be said for some preformers that are Dollytroyandbenji_2half her age.  I loved how she not only got up there to preform the numbers but then shared story's about her songs, joked about plastic surgery, her recent back troubles and about how she grew up.  Dolly is a true performer and we are not likely to see someone with true country roots like her again in our lifetime.  She embodies what every musician, artist and actor should strive to be... real!  Make sure to try and catch one of her upcoming dates which I have listed below and ya'll have fun now ya' hear.

American Idol Top 9 - Wrap Up

Apple iTunes

Last night was mentor night and the legandary country diva Dolly Parton was on hand to give her down home advice.  I must say I love Dolly Parton no matter how big a star she has become she seems to stick to her roots.  While most of the Top 9 did ok with Dolly's library of songs others did struggle.  Here's the breakdown.

Dollyonidol

Brooke White

Performed: "Jolene"

Thoughts:  A bit predictiable from Brooke it would have been nice to hear her do something new with the song but none of the contestants this season (with the exception of David Cook really have).

David Cook

Performed:  "Little Sparrow"

Thoughts:  Not a familar Dolly song but he did a nice arrangement and it was good.  It also did show off his vocals nicely showing that he could be much more than just a rocker.

Ramiele Malubay

Performed: "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind"

Thoughts:  I don't think she did a good job on this one.  And we may be posting our next good bye to Miss Malubay!

Jason Castro

Performed: "Tavelin' Thru"

Thoughts:  I actually like this performance it fit his ability well and I really like this song.  If you have never heard it you should check out Dolly's version... it's much better.

Carly Smithson

Performed: "Here You Come Again"

Thoughts:  Carly I thought was strong on this song, however Simon seemed to be in a pissy mood this week and didn't like it or Carly's outfit at all... hum Simon should probally work on his own wardrobe before picking on others.

David Archuleta

Performed:  "Smoky Mountain Memories"

Thoughts:  The great thing about David is that it doesn't matter what he sings he has a great ability to connect with songs and convey the emotion of the song.  I do think that he will become one of the greatest male vocalist that we have seen in a while.

Kristy Lee Cook

Performed:  "Coat of Many Colors"

Thoughts:  She should have had a golden ticket this week but I don't think she has.  While it wasn't as bad as some of her past performances it just didn't come out as anything special.  Could she return to her favorite place -- the bottom three?

Syesha Mercado

Performed: "I Will Always Love You"

Thoughts:  One of the most popular Dolly songs ever.  And she attempted it.  While it was nice.... I think she's going to be compared to every version out there and I don't think it will be good for her.

Michael Johns

Performed: "It's All Wrong, But It's All Right"

Thoughts:  I think his performance was one of the best of the night with a blues twist to the song he did a great job.

Tune in tonight to see who goes home. Fox 9/8 c

Predictions for the bottom 3: Ramiele Malubay, Syesah Mercado, Kristy Lee Cook
