Well it's been a long road to tonights finale and David Cook came out on top winning the coveted prize of American Idol. The finale proved to be filled with suprise guest preformances and twist and turns. I was a bit shocked that David Cook beat out David Archuleta with such a big number to be exact 12 million votes. Well everyone until next season!
Last night was the final showdown on American Idol where David Archuleta and David Cook took punches at each other not with their fist but with their vocal cords (by the way wasn't the boxing match lame). Each one sang 3 songs - one picked by Clive Davis, the next a song from the songwriters competition for the "Winning Song", and the last a song from a past round of the competition. The last song though that came from David Cook was one he never sang from a past round a perfect replica of a Collective Soul song, a bold move especially when he brought nothing new to the song at all! Archuleta of course ended the night with the song that got him rave reviews in the Top 24 "Imagine" which as Simon Cowell said gave him the "Knock Out". The clear winner from last night - David Archuleta but this is American Idol so a suprise ending could be in store!
Yes...Simon's take on THAT performance. I cackeled.
Hmmm...DISCUSS!
Who do you think will move on to the final two? Tonight on American Idol we will find out who will be battling it out in the finals. I personally would like to see Syesha Mercado and David Archuleta go head to head... I'm very bored with David Cook and I personally find him to be a bit arrogant. What do you think? Even though I want Syesha to go on to the final two I have a feeling we are going to see a show down between the two David's. Check out the results tonight at 9/8c.
Poor Clay Aiken...he went from nerdy underdog on American Idol, to beloved runner up, to karma chameleon with his hair, to sir-chub in Spamalot, to well...
Clay's new publicity photo came out today...ouch. No matter what you do with the hair honey...until those eyebrows are under control, and you stop using a bottle of foundation on your face (ps: your lips are not supposed to be the same color as the rest of your face...even natural lips have a little pink hon), you're really not doing much for yourself. I'd rather see the geeky guy with glasses and funky hair again. For realz...
What do you guys think of Aiken 3.0?
Last night on American Idol the one and only Neil Diamond was the mentor for the night with his booming voice the Idols all had a hard time living up to his vocal abilities. However the night really ended up being a bit wacky. With a rather weird format the judges didn't make comments after the first song but after the entire set. This somehow must have really messed with Paula(see video below) due to the fact she thought 2 songs had been preformed but in "reality" only one song had been preformed by each singer!?!? Guess Paula took a little to much of her "pain" medicine! I really thought that every performance was weak even from strong singers like David Cook and David Archuleta however the strongest of the night may have come from Syesha Mercado. Who will be in the bottom if America gets it right this week... Jason Castro and Brooke White? Your thoughts?
Well we had another small shocker last night on American Idol when Irish-Diva Carly Smithson didn't make the cut and got booted off American Idol, on what was one of her best performances of the show. Carly showed her vocal strength on "Jesus Christ, Superstar" and got great praise from all 3 judges but apparently America didn't like it so much. Rounding out the now bottom 2 was Syesha Mercado who also had a great performance from the previous night. Both Jason Castro and Brooke White who had horrible performances where sent to safety and the judges all seemed a bit shocked! Well Carly at least you went out on a GREAT performance!
Also if you haven't - try this: Google - Carly Smithson and you will notice a YouTube Video as the 3rd result - Carly's previous career has been quite a subject of conversation. Don't know if it had anything to do with her early dismissal but it's something to think about!
